Hi Guys, Now that I have the temp sender sorted my next headache is to connect the tacho. On a normal Rangie, the tacho picks up the signal off the Alternator ( dont ask why, just accept it as the way it is lol). Due to various pully changes etc, I figure this isn't going to be as accurate as once was.
My question is where does the tacho in the VT 5L pick up its feed, I think its the ignition module, can some one confirm this? Also what is the signal, 8 pulses every 2 revs of the crankshaft? I want to use the holden system to drive my rangie tacho as it will be more accurate. If Ive missed anything feel free to point it out!

Ok I found a wiring diagram and now see its the brown wire from the ignition module that runs to the coil. I have also noticed one wire provides a tacho signal to the instrument cluster, another brown wire to the tacho signal to tacho connector. Why th

I have no idea about the alternator sourced signal!
The tacho connection in the commodore is easily explained. The brown wire you have found does indeed go to the tacho in the cluster, however all VN-VS, and I'm pretty sure VT as well, have a seperate |

In the V8 it's traditional, just like you get off the coil in an older car.

Oh well, I will just have to suck n see....I can always get the Tacho recalibrated if needed for about 45 bucks
