Hi all,

Thanks Dave (Qute) for the tip to rectify my earthing problem on the HZ Prem, it worked a treat, the caravan clearance lights now shine brightly! Now to pass on this wisdom, if you have a factory fitted towbar on your HQ-HZ Holden, and you're experiencing a problem with your trailer lights then it may be that the earthing through your towbar is now pretty average. Simple fix is to run an insulated wire from the earth on your trailer plug (car end socket) through to a bumper bracket bolt, this will provide a good earth to the body. Worked a treat on my car, thought I'd just pass that on!

Cheers

Peter

No worries Peter, glad it worked out for you mate. It is MUCH more common than most people realise.

Another trick is to earth your trailer lights back to the trailer chassis as well as the earth wire that runs back to your wiring connector. That way, y

just a short one..(you probably know this). It is a requirement of current adr's for all towed vehicles (caravans, trailers, etc) to be earthed via the wiring harness and not through the tow coupling.
