does any1 know what this eng is:looks like a holden 6cyl BUT :it's 50% larger than a holden red mtr,dist.is on the same side but further to the front,oil filter screws on rhs at the front,has chev bellhousing bolt patern,starter bolts on the rhs down low. it came out of an old boat the neighbour got from somewhere.

Sounds like a 250 odd ci chev 6. Mate of mine had one in a South African Rambler Hornet. |

There were also a similar type motor used in the old Bedford commercials, I have heard they were around 292ci? Cheers Matt

Yes it does sound like the Chev 6 I think they are available in capacities from about 190-292 cubic inches. There was a fair bit said about these engines a while ago on this forum under the title "stroking a red motor" or similar. |

Excellent engine to stick into a Holden with a big cam and triples, and play tricks on people when it goes like stink and you tell them it's a 202. |
