Hi,

I've got one of those WB factory airconditioning compressors that leaks fine oil every time its engaged (Harrison type I believe). I suspect that its simpler to get the seals replaced, but how difficult is it to install a newer style compressor? Is it simply a matter of making a new bracket and getting appropriate hoses made up?

Has anyone done this, and if so what problems did you find (and costs etc)?

The place I usually take the WB statesman for electrical and aircon work say not to worry about it, i.e. they only do standard regas work. But I should be the judge of what I'm willing to accept under my bonnet (I'll get down off my soapbox right now ...)

Any one know of good Aircon places in Adelaide?

I think you should be able to fit a Sanden 508 compressor quite easily. The holes in the compressor mounting plate need to be slotted or enlarged as the new compressor has a slightly different bolt pattern. I also think it needs some spacers in there as w

If you bought a compressor and brackets off a VN (or thereabouts) 5 litre, I think it would all bolt up. Just check the alignment for the belt doesn't change.

Hi Guys.

The 'oil spray' coming from the Harrison compressor is quite often only bearing grease from the clutch bearing & not coming from the compressor at all. If the oil was coming from the front seal, gas would be escaping as well & you would loose

I have done a replacement before using the sanden 508 seried I think, What I did was I cut a V in the orginal mounting bracket in the middle and remove the piece of metal, heated the bracket and bent it to follow the contour of the new compressor, redril

changing compressors is not as simple as people think.
you have to match running pressure, flow rates etc with your existing evap, cond, metering device etc.
the system is designed with all these matched to each other.
its like putting a 240v globe in

just an example of how sensitive Air con is....
if you buy a car in Sydney, and take it too Darwin, it wont work properly.
newer cars are better than older ones, as they seem to have more leeway.
i found hundreds of cars, tripping on High Pressure.
