G'day All, I was talking to a guy yesterday that said something about a Jaguar V12 engined 1tonner getting around Melbourne or something! I want to know if that is possible? I have seen one of those engines and I dont think it would fit in without major structural changes to the engine bay. Has anybody else seen or heard of this car or is it a myth (aka Bull***t? Cheers. Russ.

There was a show HQ-HZ van in the 80's called Alley Cat that had one of these fitted, if memory serves me correctly. A lot of these vans in the 80's also had Jag rear ends. |

Didn't "Alley Cat" have the complete V12 Jag running gear in it?

Maybe that was the one, the guy couldnt remember too much about it, so I guess to the uneducated a van and a ute could be mistaken, especially if it was that long ago, memories tend to blurr over the years., but it still beats me how he fit it in there, t Edited by user Monday, 19 September 2005 6:35:45 PM(UTC)

I'll dig out an old Van Wheels (originally what Street Machine was called) or a Custom Vans and Trucks magazine and have a look. I'm pretty sure it was all Jag gear (albeit V12 Jags used a TH400) |

Just dug out an old Custom Vans and Trucks – number 30, from late ’83. There is a feature in it on Alley Cat which had just won the 1983 ASVA Van nationals. In summary it had:
V12 Jag engine with 4 x 2” SUs. E-type V12 4-speed. XJ12 Jaguar rear end.

the jag V12 isn't the best engine for performance. so unless its for WOW! factor, i dont see the point. On monday i went for a spin in a mates 1981 Jag with a chev 400, twin turbo.
HOLY CRAP!!!! this thing is big, heavy, not great at handling, but r
