hi guy's,
how do i tell what kind of diff's in my hj panel van?it has a 350 chev, i need to put a new hand brake cable in but i dont know what type of cable i need as i dont have the original cables that were in it.how can i work out what type of cable i need?

Look at the diff from the back of your car. If there are about 10 bolts holding a plate onto the back of the housing centre, you probably have a Salisbury.

If it is small and the diff centre bolts in from the front, you have a banjo (which won't last l

Is it disc or drum brakes on the rear.A pic of the brakes will definately help. The banjo and the salisbury and the retubed 9 inchs should all run the same hand brake cables and backing plates. But if it is a 9inch it may still have the ford brakes on it.

had a look and not a banjo cause the holding plate is bolted from the back. it has ten bolts and it is rear disk brakes.cant get a pic at the moment. cheers guys for the help

If it is a disk brake salisbury diff the hand brake cables are differant from the drum brake rear end. When I fitted my disc rear I found that the cable brackets on the frame were in the wrong place and had to be relocated.I am not sure if any of the vans

No HZ or wB commercial was fitted with disc brakes on the rear. They don't fit properly without modification as the hand brake lever hits the leaf springs.
