As for the markII how good are thay? Can I use HJ-HX-HZ-WB factory air for parts? And how much power will it take from me 202?
If I agreed with you we`d both be wrong.

The actual original aircon bits are not that hard to find.

HQ - HZ (and WB Commercials) all interchange. The hard bits to get are the HQ controller, crashpad (with the extra outlet in the middle) and the under-dash ducting as these are specific to the

Like Dave says the basic bits- compressor, condenser, drier, and the firewall box setup (combined heater/air con) are fairly easy to get the differences are in the behind dash ducting, the control cables and the dash pad. Also the ducts that hang down fro

Hi Jason,

Sure did mate. I replied this morning.

Sorry about the delay, but I was out seeing about 800 k's of Vic countryside yesterday (plus about 10 k's of walking up and down in the Grampians...) so I was a bit tired when I got back to the flat..

Dave,

No worries, mate... weird though, it hasn't come through. There isn't normally much delay with yahoo emails, but I'll give it a bit longer. My fastlane profile has the right address, too, so it should have been fine. Stupid internet... :-)

Its a big job installing HQ factory air. A small under dash unit would be 100 times easier. The hot water lines and valves, the electrical and vacuum lines everywhere, the air ducts and stuff going everywhere. I attempted it once. Wayne

Yes but the factory air is out of sight the after market on the Q is either in front of the passenger risking their knees or in the glove box so you lose that space.
It's not that big a job just a lot of fiddling plus you have to pull the left guard off

I have a Q tunna, with under dash/glovebox Ac. I don't usally carry passengers, so it isn't a hassle having it there, and it gets bloody cold,
Works a treat, I have a john Deere compressor out of a tractor on R134a.

Just a point of interst here fellas the standard HQ dash pad has a cut out for the centre vent and you can use a left hand vent in the spot.
Cheers.

Personally I think the HQ-WB factory units look pretty crap in the engine bay, and it's difficult to get to the rear spark plugs on the passenger side if you have a V8.
I am contemplating using a Mark ll that I have in the coupe, and coupling that up to

HQ Holden service manual Volume 5, it has 68 pages of air-cond information. No idea where you would find a copy though. Wayne

they come up on ebay from time to time, sometimes even complete vol 1-6 HQ sets, good HQ sets always fetch well over $200. I still waiting to afford a set! I have the 'improved performance' engine manual, actually i have 2 if anyone is interested in one..

There is a vol 5 on ebay now I think. Vol 6 is the valuable one it covers the commercials. Singles (not v 6) go for $15-30. Also there are Statesman and trimatic supplements.
