Is it possible to make a red 202 leaded engine compatible for a gas conversion?

yeah, why not? just do it - don't worry about the head and valves (unless you do big k's or the head needs doing anyway)

I've been running a $45.00 ebay special conversion for over a year now, no problems.

Had mine done about 16 years ago, been getting done for a long time now. I had Stellite valve inserts fitted to the head.

I am not sure if this applies to red 202s or not but while I was doinig a gas course at TAFE many years ago, the blue 202 was one of the most common engines being converted at the time. We were told in order to get the best out of them you should install

ihad my hq holden ute converted to gas in 1989 its 202 now on its third recoed motor got over 100.000 miles on the others only ever burnt one valve never done anything special to the head ive heard you burn valves when you run lean gas or petrol go for it
