gday. planning on ripping out a 202/4 spd from my ute and puttin in a 253/4spd from another ute i have (the body s stuffed)
just wanting to know about about mounting points and any wiring that has to be changed??
also what trouble would i have with Vicroads with the conversion???

If the Holden came with a 253 from the factory (as they did) it shouldnt be an issue.
I'd let ya put in a 454 but I am not VICROADS !!

It will bolt straight in on the same mounts. Make sure you get the 10-bolt diff and tailshaft out of the donor as well, although the existing tailshaft and banjo will fit. If they are both HZ or HX, the 253 engine wiring harness will plug in where the 6cy |

righty-ho. the only other thing i need to know is where is the best places to mount the chain on the 253 to get it out?? i have a specially made brace for for the 202 to come out, but having never pulled out a V8 before, where is the best place for this??

There is no problem putting a 253 into an HZ as they came from the factory like that. You won't have a problem with Vic Roads. I did the same to my J and had it registered without any problems. I normally lift them out using diagonally opposite head accessory bolt holes (if they are there - HT/G heads are missing some). The threads are for power steering, air etc and take 9/16"AF bolts. If you are leaving the exhaust manifolds on, you can use th |

There is no need to. A 6cyl ute's springs will be fine with a 253. It's not like a HQ ute is ever going to handle that well that an extra 30kg or so over the front 'axle' will make any difference. It may even have the opposite effect, as Harry firth found |

go it all in and running in about 8 hours including pulling both motors out the cars they were in!! if the rain had have held off for a few more hours would have had the diff swapped as well
