Hey I've got an VL going on 280,000kms (no rebuild) and was just wondering what brand and what weight oil I should be using to keep the old girl going?

280 thou? She's only just run in at this stage...if you look after her, you'll get another 280 thou before she'll need a rebuild.

How's the compression?

AFAIK, all 3 litre VL's had the 3.45 ratio diff. Once I find my VL manuals again, I'll have a squizz for you Elton to confirm.

im assuming (there's that word again) 4th gear is 1:1, at 100k's -in 4th- the rpm reads 28/2900 revs...

edit - these rpm figures are from memory so may not be 100% accurate, wouldn't be far off though.

Hi Elton,

Had a look in the VY tonight....100 kmh in 4th is 2950 rpm with a 3.46 diff and 235/45-17 tyres so your memory is pretty good mate!

I should have been able to work that out without having to try it...6th is 0.5:1 and she does a touch under
