G'day all,

I have a set of jellybean mags on the ute. The guy I bought it from painted them black (cause he bought it cheap with them painted gold!).
Anyway, I want to return them to metal quickly and while still using them on the ute so;

1) Will paint stripper kill the tyres? Any advice on the best chemicals to use that won't eat into the rubber?

2) once they are back to metal and I give them either a tidy up or polish (pending on how the stripping goes) is there anything I should 'seal' the metal with?

Thanks again in advanced for your help all....
Void

If you use paint stripper, make sure you get one that won't also eat your mags...I don't know the effect of paint stripper on rubber...if it is an issue, there should be a warning printed on the can.

Also have a look here for some more information: htt

Thanks for the advice guys - I finish exams in a couple weeks so I will be able to get the gear now and get into them soon.

and Jim - Dave did say "over time" so don't worry you should get a good 12 months out of them before you can strip and coat them

Theoretically paint stripper shouldn't affect rubber tyres.
Remembering back to school days and chemistry....all the acids in bottles had rubber corks!
Then again....there is no rubber content in tyres anymore :-(
