Hi there,

Trying to get the axel out of the HQ. Read the instruction manual and have seen the diagram of the adjuster screw that you let off to allow the drum to come off(with the handbrake off) on the rear of the drum. With the suspension not too far from the rear of the brake drum this is quite a fiddly spot to reach.

My question is, is there an easy way to use this screw? Or is it ok to spray wd40 at it? I tried for about half an hour and it wouldnt budge. i didnt want to break the teeth of it so stopped.

Any tips would be great for you those of you that are pros at this

cheers

If the drum spins I doubt the brakes are holding it on. It is most likely rusted/frozen on the axle. I usually belt the drum with a lump of wood, or sometimes with a hammer and it eventually comes loose. Try hitting the wheel face on opposite sides and it

first back ya cable off and try again to remove the drum, the adjuster should have a devise that stops it from backing it self off.Yes you can spray wd on it,if you are going to reuse the shoes i would not spray to much.On the back of ya backing plate you

If the drum is turning and it is not stuck to the centre of the axle and it still won't come off then you will have to back off the adjuster. The adjuster, the wheel with teeth on it, will have a self adjuster attached to it. This is a spring loaded le

I bent up a fairly solid crewdriver to make it easir to get at the teeth. Often what happens is the drums end up with a small ridge around the outside edge as the linings wear the metal away. This takes years but you can often feel the ridge once the drum
