hey i have just removed my rochester and installed a 600 vacuum secondary holley on my worked 308 and now it wont run properly, it takes for ever to kick and when it fires it missses and wond accelerate it will just backfire and through a sprak/ flame out the carby any help????

if it was running ok with the other carb it should run ok with the 600 ,but what condition is the 600 in ?, sounds like the accelerator pump isnt working, more info on the 600 would be better

It really does make me wonder why you guys think that if it's a Holley, then it must be better than than anything else. The Rochester are a truely brilliant carburettor. Being that they are a spreadbore, and have vacuum secondaries automatically tells you

I run Strommies & a Holley 350 on my cars so far. A Quad is on the drawing board, so I am open to ideas. A change like this, sounds dramatic.
Is the Holley new ? Is it old ? Does it need a kit or jets to suit a 308 ? If old what did it come off, anothe

sorry about the slow reply it is a 600 vaccum seconary holley square bore and it sits on an edelbrock torker manifold (square bore) the carby is 6 months old and was running perfect on the 308 that it was on it was removed because it was not supplying eno

One of three things, You have fiddled with your dizzy, and hence the problems starting, (check your point gap !) Or you have obtained a secondand ****ty holley, You can mess around with accelerator pumps cams all day and still not get rid of a flat spot (

I did the same with my HQ years ago. I also found that it ran very rough and it was due to the base plate not being compatable with the manifold. I had to block something off but I cant remember what it was sorry mate. Also make sure a float hasnt stuck o

Dumb question time.
What heads do you have. Poll or pre Poll ? What manifold do you now have Poll or Pre-Poll ? They kind of have to match, ie POLL to POLL. Also as stated earlier did you get the dizzy in the correct spot when u put it back in ? One to

hey it is a pre polution but theres nothing wrong with ignition, or any other thing because it was fine until i pulled of the old carby and put th new one on if i put th erochester back on it runs again its thre carby for sure
