Hi Leith,

Going by the limited picture's that Shannon's showed of the unrestored HK Bathurst 327 Monaro, obviously it's will cost more than the final price reached at Auction to undertake a complete restoration.

Might be a simple example of over cap

I actually saw it at the auction shed and it actually wasnt in too bad a shape, it would be a good car to restore, plus i do believe it came with most bits.

Hi Leith,

That's excellent that you have reliable contacts at Shannon's, as that will provide a reliable conduit to keep everyone up to date with a progressive report.

Hopefully through the co-operation of the new owner, they will keep Shannon's up

Most of the bits are with the car, and the 1/4's have been fixed plus the engine and box restored to factory original. As long as all of the brightwork is serviceable and the treim is good (which I think it is), there is no reason why a competent restorer

Hi Byron,

You say that most of the bits are with the car.

Makes you wonder what is missing and if it's the cosmetic parts, then they are the most expensive to locate and source to what cost. $$$$$$$$$$

A competent restorer could possibly keep th

Restored concours HK 1837's are already pulling $100,000. So are 1973 Bathurst XU-1's (my mate got offered $65,000 for his 3 years ago!) and SS A9X's. SLR5000 L34/A9X and HT/G GTS350 won't be far behind. I don't know exactly what is there and what is miss

This is great news for the rest of us who own HK-HG monaros. Hopefully we'll see these cars increase in value like the overated Falcon GT's.

Tanart,

I wouldn't get too excited, as I don't think this is the first (or last) OVERPRICED auction we will all see.

Look at it this way. For it to have reached $55,000 at auction at least two parties were bidding & therefore willing to pay that sort of cash for it.
