i have 5 hk,t,g steer boxes and all have diffrent i.d's. 1st. "9D8" 2nd "16.7" 3rd "21C8" 4th "2F1" (or maybe it's "2FI") and the 5th is "20M7". would anyone know how to I.D just what's what ?. they came out of, (from 1 to 5), hk gts 6cyl munro. ht gts 6cyl munro. hk belmont 6cyl ute. hg 6cyl kingswood sedan. and last one out of hk 6cyl premier. can anyone shed a little light on what's what or at least direct me to wherever i need to go to suss the info i need. thanks.

From memory, and this is A VERY LONG TIME ago the optional "quick ratio" steering was available with or without power assist on the sixes. I have an idea that they have a different quantity of balls in the box its self. Like I said this is ages ago (20+

i'm trying to pick out a steer box to reco for my hk rebuild. i understand in hk-g models, they had power steer with a ratio of 16-1 and non power was 20-1 and then the gts (or perhaps just the bathurst models) with a ratio of 16-1 without power steer. ot

the 16.7 is the gts/power box

Thanks Smiley, would you know if there is any diffrence between the manual 16.1 and the power 16.1 ?

Hi Guys.

Most of the ID numbers listed in the post are date production codes. e.g. 9D8 = 9th April 1968 & 2F1 = 2nd June 1971 etc. The one marked 16.7 is one of the quicker ratio boxes but, it too should have a date code similar to the others.
