im looking at buying a HJ with a VT 5L it has 60,000kms on in, has a turbo 700, body has had rust removed awhile ago, custom interior etc.

hes asking $16000. is that a reasonable price.

i mean i really dont want to spend anymore than $10k on a sedan (prem or kinga)

but its in perth where i live and all the 2dr monaros (which i really want) in perth around the $10k-$15k you need a tetnis shot just standing next to them. i have been looking over east, but found it to be too hard for the situation im in. Last street machine there was a article on a HJ prem (title was tequilla sunrise), it had atleast 30k spent on it and he had it advertised at $18k, i got talkin to him, he dropped his price to $12000 for me.

i have NO ONE to ask for advise, so can some of you revheads please help me out.

p.s i dont really want one for high performance reasons, just street cruisen!

Cheers

Dusty

well seeing as you asked for opinions...imho the first thing you need to look at is what model the vehicle is. $12K is huge money for a lowly kingswood (if that's what it is) especially if you only want to hoon around town. a VT5LV8 may seem like an aweso

don't do it, add airfare and then fuel home and i reckon you could easily buy tough prem or even reasonable two door over this way (meaning eastern states).10K would be a luxury budget for this li'll black duck.

I am surprised you have not been able to get a nice one here. I have seen several around the streets with For Sale notices on them, some looked reasonable but i did not check them out as I am not in ther market. I was at the local doctors in doubleview a

Oh and 16 grand is way too much you can buy a new crate LS1 motor for under 5, fit a box and fitted to your car probably under another $4000, even with tarted interior you would be in front.

i agree with them. vt 5litre sounds good but in a couple of years time it will be out dated your better off with a old skool chev.
look on carpiont.com.au there is heaps on there now. and going reasonably cheap cause of fuel.

Just put a V8 in it!!!

Hi Duzty,

It sounds from what I am reading, it appears that you may never be prepared to pay, for what people are reasonably asking for their vehicle !

Stop sitting on the fence and being a "dreamer".

If you are genuinely keen, bite the bullet an

A bit harsh there lonemonaro! What everyone's getting at (except yourself) is that for what these cars have, its not worth paying over $10k for something that you'll have to spend another $10k on to fix up! If it earns you another $10k in about 5-10 yea
