I have a 5Ltr commodor , i notice small bits o rubber comming out of the back of harmonic ballencer just where the pully and main body join .Do you just pull these of and bang anouther one on or is ther another method , is damage caused when hammering new one on !!!.

to put them on just stick the bolt in and do it up with a rattle gun, make sure the key in the crank lines up with the slot in the ballancer.
you will need a puller to remove the old one, most the cheap pulers are crap and will bend, i use to have one

Actually Dylan did not make it clear. You have a problem with the balancer it is disintegrating and you should replace it before it falls off and breaks something. Also the outer pulley rotates a bit and then you cannot tune the engine properly because th

Also,
If ur doin it at home and u don't have a Compressor/Rattle Gun, you can use a Large Socket around the Centre of the Balancer to Hammer it on, Once you hammer it to a point where you can get enough thread started on the bolt (without stripping it |

Or a much eaier way is to use a pulley fitment tool. Is basically a stepped, open ended bolt thread, with a dirty great nut and a bearing race. Wind the appropriate end into the end of crank, put pulley (balancer) over, slide on bearings and wind in nut |
