If it's a 202 head it will have the 5/8 spark plugs with taper seats,the earlier heads 186,161,179,149 had a 13/16 spark plug with a washer seal hope this helps.
if it ain't broke we can improve it.

So how can I tell if it's a 186,161,179,149??? The part no is clearly now help as it's saying it's a 202... The head has the larger style of plug with the washer seal. Are there any features of these heads, so I can tell the difference, apart from chamb |

Hi Guys.
Yes, this one is a strange one.
These facts are known.
1. The number is the number used for normal 202 heads.
2. The combustion chamber is the large size (ie suits 179/186/202)
3. The date code (D 15 1) is 15th April 1971.

Dr terry,
The thread length is around 10mm, can't tell if the studs are screwed in or pressed, looks very neat around the bottom of stud though, suspect pressed, but could be wrong.

Hi guys, I looked up the part number for this head in my HQ Parts Manual today and it doesn't appear in there. The numbers go from 2811924 to 2811931 with no numbers inbetween. Thanks for the help Dave, I never thourght this would be a brain teaser. The Part No's are suppose to make sense, and not baffle the owner.

Quite often the casting number & the part number are not the same because one casting can be used for different applications.
