hey you all,,,umm,, can i run wire from battery to coil, via switch in cab, to power engine ignition?

Are you looking to set up a hidden kill switch?

If so, yes you can do exactly what you have described.

However, an easier way (as long as your vehicle does not have electronic ignition) is to tap in to the negative side of the coil and run a wire to

hey thanks for that munromad,,, i was asking cause,,,did a conversion on 98 transit,put 308 in it, my mate did electrical wirin,,and great job,, but D brain me, in tryin to put temp gauge in, cut wrong wire, and got mixed up,, so was trying to hot wire i

Mate you could always run a battery isolator, it will stop the car from starting and the battery won't drain. Repco sells it for about 20 dollars.

To answer orig question, yep. But if you have wires mixed up, you may want to pull all other wires other than those needed to make it run (eg. no tacho, temp, etc gauges).

If it isn't running, then the normal +ve for coil may be connected to something

Well that's a different story then.

I presumed you were simply asking how to install a kill swtich.

It sounds like auto electrics is not your forte so I would get your mate to come around and fix it rather than try to hotwire it.
