Hi all,

They say bad luck runs in threes, if that's true then this is the last one for a while!! OK my gas fault and electric tailgate window is fixed, but when I needed to remove the rear wheels I discovered that the tyre joint who did my puncture repair a couple of months ago didn't put the locking wheel nut 'tool' back in my glovebox, so it appears lost. How do I get these suckers off now as I need to drive 300kms for Xmas and don't want to be stuck on the side of the road!! I've tried locking pliers and stilsons, but being 14x7 wheels with a fairly deep dish it's had to get a good grip. What to do????

Thanks

Peter

Since it sounds like they're throw away now that you've lost the tool, as a last resort could you weld a normal wheel nut onto it? Would the weld hold under the sort of rotational pressure required to loosen them? I'm not a welder, so someone here could

They know me pretty well, so I'm seeing them this afternoon. But if they had no ideas I thought I'd try here first!

The wheel nuts are chromed, might be hard to get a weld to stick I would think, and the splatter would bugger the chrome too I would think!

You'd have to grind the chrome off first. What about an air chisel or nut splitter>

Ok here's how i got mine off.....what you do is get material tape(so when using air chisel will not damage mag) and tape the mag that is around the lock nut, then you get an air chisel and smash it if you do it properly you wont damage your mags.

Thanks guys, here's a trick to remove them (c/o the tyre joint who lost the tool in the first place!). Anyway get a socket that nearly fits over, then tap on with a 3lb sledge hammer, then fit the extension and breaker bar and turn as normal to remove th
