I seem to recall that the "old" ECE 285 KW of the LS1 HSV's was equivalent to 292 DIN KW. Any ideas on whether that 2.4% can be applied as a conversion factor between ECE and DIN KW figures?

hey guys, i have a blue 253,
extractors 4barrel carby, exhaust, and a lumpy Crow cam through it,and it flies, i had it dynoed and it made more than a standard fuel injected 5L. very impressed. exctractors, exhaust and cam, make a 4.2 unbeatable. great fu

i got nearly the same set up as you
but i got red hq heads so i not running
that power sucking polution gear
getting a cam soon so if mine
goes any where near wat ur saying then i be
very happy with me old hq.

180Hp rings a bell. But there were HC and LC 253s. As Dr Terry said they used to rate them differently. No engine acssessories , alternator, water pump etc. So factories reading where probably a little high compared to how the same engine would read on to

But still, the torque of the 308 would be required to pull a plymouth around... A 253 is more suited to something like.... a Torana!! MMM...
