Maybe someone in here can help me out. Yesterday the VK died on me and ever since it will not fire back up.
It is a 3.3ltr black carby engine, Auto. I am getting fuel, but I am not getting any spark. The coil has volatge but somehow no spark is being created.
I took the coil out and put it in my dads HZ and sure enough it started his car. This makes me think the coil is okay. The only thing is that the HZ has go electronic ignition installed ( aftermarket) But we also took out the coil from the HZ and put it in the VK and still no spark.
I checked the EST wires and they all seem to be good. All the fuses are fine. I have tried the starting in Neutral and Park many times. The Dissy Rotar button is spinning around.
Now I have read something about a crank angle sensor. were these installed on a Carby engine car? I have not found anything that would look like it. I am running out of ideas on what it could be. I am thinking maybe the EST module is stuffed?
If anyone has any ideas please shoot them at me. I don't want to be driving my chev around as a daily driver for too long and need to get the POS VK back on the road.

If the coil is fine but by the time the current reaches the spark plug it is poor or nonexistent, you should if not already done, do a simple test on you high tension leads, if you have a multi meter set it to resistance to check the leads, they should ha

Hi Mike, Is the EST warning light in the dash coming on? I'd bet it is the crank angle sensors which are located on the front of the flywheel in a carbied VK have come loose or the EST controller thing (technical term...) is cactus. Thanks guys I am going to check those things out, if I can't find anything I might as well go with the VH dissy and be done with it and hopefully that sorts the problem out. I'll keep you posted.

Just to add I only get a spark when the key is turned to off from trying to start, not while starting.

The sensor is on the back of the block below the head. UIf you go the VH electronic dissy make sure you get the coil as well because they are different (have plugs instead of sockets). Also run a fresh wire to the dissy a fairly heavy one some people use
