hi just woundering if any one has changed the tacho switch in a ht gts dash im sure mine stuffed . were do i get 1 and how hard is it 2 put in? or do i see a auto elec 2 do the job ? when i switched it over from 6 to 8 i herd a crack now my tacho does not rev past about 1500 revs when i drive but in nuteral i rev it it goes past 1500 any clues ?

I have not done the job myself but as an Instrument Fitter by trade originally I can assure it is not hard.

It's just a simple switch. You may find you have cracked the plastic which holds the switch contacts in place.

Pull it apart carefully and y

thank you munromad2004 its sounds like a b patient job i will have a look and see if i can do it, thank u for your offer 2 look at it for me im not far from adelaide im in pt augusta but around tax time moving down there for work reasons and a life , what

Ah, good old Port A'Gutta. :-) I actually grew up in Port Pirie.

I'd only be guessing at the wire size but something small like 26 gauge (or even smaller) would probably be sufficient.

ha ha yep tha gutter,thanks 4 that i pull it out and c how i go the next few days i will let u know how i go.
old pt pirie had some fun over there, worked with a fair few blokes from there, good guys cheers for the info

Vaguely. I haven't lived there for 20 years so I've probably forgotten more about that place than I ever knew.

I left there in Jan87, spent the next 18 months in Wagga, then 7 years in Newcastle, a couple of years in Brisbane and finally settled in Ad

yep thay were the days i think they still do the same thing now , i pulled the dash out ,pulled it apart it seemed it was out of line on the plate that turns from 6-8 i pushed it a little and put it back together nothing was broken put it in now its work

when people say its easy nomaly it is until i go to do it but i am getting better at my elec skills .

Yes, I guess being an Instrument Fitter by trade and having spent the last 20 years as an Aircraft Avionics Technician (Instruments, Electrical, Radar, Radio etc) on F-18 Hornet fighter jets as well as having tertiary electronic engineering qualifications
