i drive a hz 308 wagon with t400. when driving home today on the highway i decided to "give it some". usually on the highway im doing about 90 - 100km sitting around 2500 revs. but while kicking it in the guts i got to about 3000 revs, the car got up around 110 or so - but out of no where there was a large lapse of power or flat spot. what have i stuffed, or is this common. car usually purrs, and after. cheers geoff

yeah, when it lags i generally ease off, and it does pick up pretty much straight away. i did get a batch of crook fuel awhile back, put on a new fuel filter and cleaned out fuel pump. also find it can be a bit inconsistent when off the mark. sometimes

It sounds like your fuel pump cannot keep up with your carby or your carby inlet filter is partly blocked and your pump squirter in the carby may have some muck in it too.

Check the fuel filter if you have an inline one. Also if you have a quadrajet, they have a small filter on the fuel bowl inlet. Most people chuck em and fit an inline filter, but worth checking to see if there's one in there. Also can try putting a fuel

The carby inlet filter is fitted from std on Holleys/ Q-Jets/ Varijets and most jap carbys and others as well.It is often removed because of the misconception that it is restricting fuel flow but it stops a lot of crap from entering the carby at all and i

Yes Geoff, I have done this. The spacer that you require is a Bakelite one not a metal one. The one that I bought cost nearly $40 18 years ago. they do help with vapour lock quite a lot. |
