Have a VR 5.0L auto ute and when you floor it to kick back to 1st it will not rev out or change gears it just sits @ 3000/5000rpm or you can rev it on the spot and it does the same thing, sounds O.K if you rev it to say 4000rpm but if you floor it - it wont rev any harder and runs rough/misses

Things that i have checked
Fuel pump/pressure O.K
Coil O.K
Ignition module O.K
Fuel filter NEW
All sensors with scan tool (TECH 1)
Plug leads O.K
Dizzy/rotor button O.K
Plugs NEAR NEW

Has anyone had a problem like this???? please help

Try a different MAP sensor? They are the same as a V6 and cheap as chips so worth a try.
Does it have a HSV chip and knock sensor?

What about the HSV chip and knock sensor? The knock sensor modifies the spark, so if it's faulty it may inhibit revs. The ignition module is definitely good ie tried another one?
And also, is the fuel pressure regulator working OK (no leaks in vacuum hos

No Knock sensor and fuel pressure is O.K 200kpa @ idle and about 300kpa through the rest of rev range - tried running with pressure regulator vac hose of (full pressure) and no different and as mentioned above have already tried a ignition module

I'm out except for fuel starvation, ie blocked strainer or filters.

Have your tried with air intake plumbing removed? (i.e. bare throttle body).

Rev hard, and see if throttle is opening fully. While fully open, try squirting a bit of engine start down its neck, see if it changes note.

Also sling a can of fuel injec

Thanks for the ideas guys but it was the CAT that had collapsed and was blocked internally - fitted a new high flow cat with RAGE 3" mandrel bent exhaust = all rpm/power problems solved
