Hi guys. Tonight somethin srange was goin on with the HQ van. I had dull headlights, no indicators or dash lights, barely working wipers, the stereo kept flicking on and off and the temp gauge was peaked out. It seems like an earth leak or a short or something, but the strange thing is everything worked perfectly when the clutch was pressed in... Any idea what would cause this?

Hainzy,
Check that you don't have any wiring running across near where the clutch pedal pivots. You could have a short there somewhere.
Cheers
Kev

Also check your motor to body earth lead (usually at the back and quite often looks like the pick-up braid on a Scalextrics car). Maybe when you press the clutch in, your rat-trap bends and makes contact with the motor thereby earthing it out to the body.

Cheers guys. i did have a bit of a look under the dash with a torch, but not much around the firewall/clutch region... Will check it out. Today I also noticed the temp needle was spiking in unison with the indicator flash.. weird...

The temp needle moving in sync with the indicator is a common sympton of an earth issue.
What the Kev and Dave said about the clutch pedal and rat trap makes a lot of sense too.
Also check that the loom to the floor mounted dipper switch is not bein
