HI ALL I NEED TO NO WHAT CARBY CAME OUT ON HQ GTS MONARO COUPE ITS A 253 I NEED TO NO IF IT HAS A 4B OR 2B INLET AND CARBY THANKS GUYS
AND ANY 1 NO WHER TO GET GREEN Houndstooth TRIM??????????

2 barrel carby.
Swap meetings or ebay for finding.
Green and black houndstooth, 10Z trim is NLA. I know one trimmer just sold his stock a couple of years ago, this was the only know stuff around.

SO DO YOU NO WHO GOT THE TRIM? DID ANY 253'S HAVE A 4B CARBY FROM NEW? WHAT BRAND OF CARBY? AND CAN YOU GET A GOOD BIT OF POWER OUT OF A 2B ?

The HQ 253 should have a 2 bbl WW Stromberg only. The Strommie is a nice carb ~ like it works. Parts are still available for it, and can be slightly modded up. You can always add a Holley450 2bbl via and adapter plate. The Holley is a good option for a ma

Blue motor 253 engines came out with a rochester 4 barrel carby std from the factory and it bolts straight on to the early 4 barrel manifolds.Trubluhq you do mean a 350 Holley dont you, A 450 is a 4 barrel and they run ok on 253 engines too (when jetted r Edited by user Saturday, 10 March 2007 10:28:19 PM(UTC)

its a hq gts and the only non stock thing is it has a 4B manifold and a 2B carby i want to take it back to stock but i still want good power . the thing i want to no is where can i get my seats dun in green

As Warren and trubluhq said from the factory it would have been 2 barrel strommie and 2 barrel manifold.Sorry cannot help with the trim.

Hi HQSS - yes der on me ! yes the Holley 350 2bbl model. ideal for a little bit of poke and economy if u like.

The material is nylon and will not dye. If it was that easy all colours woulds be available, as black and white is still available.
The radio is a either dealer or factory fitted, so no way to tell, especially if fitted by dealer.

Here is a list of Stromberg model numbers that may help you find the correct carby.
23-3046 71-72 HQ 253 manual

By 1974 the aircleaner should have the exhaust heater pipe stub attached, and a similar stub on the other end on the passenger side manifold. There should also be a breather connection to the drivers side front rocker cover.
Pre 74 no external holes at

yer its a 71 the preheat thing dus it go into the manifold? did any of them cum out with headers?

I think he was talking about the thermostatic choke lines to the manifold. up to 74 the preheat was water from the waterpump. The original Canadian wheels used on the 71 HQs were silver and grey but the locally made ones were wheel silver and charcoal.

The GTS wheels of the 71-72 say Made in CANADA 6.00JK x14. There are NO welds from the rim to hub.
The GTS wheels from 73ish and onward say HOLDEN 6.00JJ x14. They are welded from the rim to hub in 4 large spots(from memory).
The 71 rim colours were
