I have just hooked up MSD ignition to my 308 red motor with a chev hei dizzy. It worked great, as soon as i turned the key, it fired. After about ten seconds warming up smoke appeared at my feet. Turned off straight away....as you do.. it's the thin pink wire coming from my steering column(HX), or my main ignition switch...that goes out into the enging bay(melted). I have checked the wires over n over... any ideas anyone....sorry for the long post.

you have wired the resistance wire into the high voltage circuit which it is not designed for. Isolate pink wire and replace it with a fairly heavy duty wire. The resistance wire is designed for about 6 to 9 volts. Some people fit relays but I consider th

Thanks for the reply John! I have fixed the problem since, I ended up using another 12V source and just removed the old pink wire.
