hi help please I have a hj ute its chev 1986 307 auto I would like to know if i can bolt a m20 straight to this or do i have to have a different bell housing & would there be any other complications also if i need another bell where would i find & what type thanks for all & any help given Bye

By M20 I assume you mean an aussie 4 speed M20.
You can buy a bellhousing from Dellow or Castlemaine Rod Shop to suit.
It will be a Chev/308TH to Aussie 3/4 speed. This is because 308 TH blocks have the same pattern as a Chev, and aussie 3 or 4 speeds a

Forgot - there is no such thing as a 1986 307 as far as I know. Do you mean a 305? Makes no difference to the fitment though.
In the above I have assumed you have used factory HQ Chev style adapters and V8 mounts for the engine.

you are right it is 305 sorry i was convinced by someone today that it must be 307 but when i bought the vehicle iwas told it was 305 I know jack squat about the chev engines thanks

There are 3 x 5L Chevs, and people often confuse them: 302, 305 and 307. 302 is a 4" bore, short stroke - (same bore/stroke as a 302 Windsor or Cleveland) uses the stroke of the 283 Chev and the bore of the 350. 305 is a large stroke, small bore - same st
