I got this via email today.

The story that came with the email is as follows. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the story.

The owner of this ute is 18 years old and his mate of the same age was driving.

They were apparently driving down a street in Kalgoorlie which is a 50kmh zone.

An eye witness estimated the speed at between 150-200 kmh.

The ute got airborne after hitting a drain and collected a tree before coming to rest.

Both occupants walked away and the owner was last heard yelling at his mate for wrecking his ute.

Apparently alcohol was involved.

Lucky to be alive I think. Suss out the pics. It must have hit bloody hard.

Lucky the trees were there. Look how close the houses are. If the story is true then the guys should be buying a lottery ticket.

The story is true. When it first happened, a local from Kal posted similar pics on a forum I visit. Yes, the ages and alcohol are both correct.

At that stage there was conjecture over who the driver was - the owner of the ute claimed it was his mate,
Cheers,

Mick

The seatbelt bruises should tell who was driving & who was in the passenger seat. Either way I don't like his chances of getting an insurance payout.

The engine went in to my bothers HT wgn it was mint. diff was ok boot was good. It was a $56 car from memory lots of little bits from it. It had just shoved the motor over out of the way.The righthand rail took most of the force.

Ah, I see. That pic looked to me like it had hit dead-centre so I thought the motor'd be cactus. The hit being a bit to the right obviously saved it.
