G’day all…

My name is Dan McLaughlin; I’m posting in regards to my transportation design project. I’m in my fourth & final year of Industrial Design at Massey University, Wellington, N.Z.

My initial idea is to use the Ute as a platform for development, because of the iconic value it has in Australasia. You all would notice GM-H’s uptake of this trend of development in the Crewman Series, Maloo’s and the Utester concept…and of more recent; competing manufacturers concept crossover vehicles that are starting to appear.

I’m interested in usability problems you have had with your vehicle…i.e. The storage issues behind the seats or the poor comfort from the seats-just loose examples of problems…

This is pretty broad starter, but bear with me!! Start whining!

Any one with questions, ideas, links, positive/negative criticism & feedback of any nature feel more than welcome to comment and register a bit of interest!

Also…I’m looking for participants to be in a lead user focus group…but lets just break the ice first.

Those of you that own Commodores, Crewman etc- stereotypical masculine Australian made vehicles.. I’m looking towards you…

No doubt ill be spending a bit of time on here over the next few months.

Cheers for your time all, I await your feedback!

Dan.

Dan,

Welcome aboard.

I used to operate an HQ Ute, and had a few thoughts on its practicality (and otherwise). I say used to, as an unexpected addition to the family meant that three seats were now required (point 1).

The things that struck me (b

Problem I see is that no-one has ever built anything to replace the HQ-WB 1-tonner. The Recent Ford and Holden tonners come close, but they are still not as robust as the old girls and you couldn't buy a V8 base model Holden example. Plus Holden has dropp

Can I suggest a lowering of the tray back so that lifting stuff (cement bags etc), wouldnt be too difficult, seems like the last tray backs were a bit high?
Cheers
