just curious on the work needed to change drums to disc on the front of a HG kingy, i have been told two different stories, one is really not worth it, and the other is simple. would someone who has either done it or seen it done be able to light this up for me please.

It's not that hard, but time consuming.
Best way is to go to a wreckers and buy everything off a donor car, ie booster & cylinder, brake lines, pedal pushrod, stub axles, discs, calipers, hoses etc. You'll have to replace some of it like hoses etc but at

I upgraded my brakes to disc fronts on my HG ute a few months ago, worth every cent. So much better braking and you aren't pushing your foot to the floor every time you want to stop. Also alot more responsive.

I grabbed my discs/rotors and stub axles

The rear wheel cylinders are also different on disc so change these, but if fully recoing brakes you should anyway.

For daily driver, disc brakes are much better these days, just with the traffic the extra pressure on the drum brakes can be a bit much.

To add to what Warren has said, the rear brakes shoes are also different to suit the smaller (9/16") rear cylinders. The rear shoes and cylinders must be changed when converting to front discs, because the HK/HT/HG series did not have a propor
