I`m going to look at a one owner 76 wagon the old guy ordered it with 253 and 3on the tree manual , it has done about 170,000 from new. Its a Kingswood complete and drives well garaged last 4 years , small bit of rust here and there. the guys very neg on $500. I have not come accross more than a couple of these V8 3spd cars, are they a good box ? How rare is this combo?

The M15 three speed box is as strong if not stronger than an M20 4 speed. It is not that rare, but these days most would have been converted to 4 speed.

You see the 3spd every now & then - usually in bench seat cars for obvious reasons. Same reason I'm keeping one for the ute. Have also heard they are a strong box for a standard box of their day but no idea on actual figures..anyone? Heard that some speed

Thats some find. Sounds as though its in the right hands too. Three speeds hold up quite well and its very hard to find a kingswood that is basically untouched, so its definetly rare these days.
