Hi Fellas,

I have a 202 with mild cam, standard head and ww Stromberg carbi in a GTR. I had extractors fitted years ago and tossed the headers. The bloke who fitted the extractors put a couple of ugly bends in the pipe to get past the cross member and sway bar and I have always wondered what effect these have on flow.

I am wondering whether I might as well return to headers. They come up on ebay occasionally. What effect would this have on power - torque and economy?

I'm wouldn't do this just to return to original. Mind you, if anyone knows where I might find a 173S block please let me know. I've still got the 173S head.

Thanks Fellas

He bent the exhaust pipe, not the extractors. He had to bend the pipe to get past the cross member and sway bar. Not much room!

Still no reason why a good exhaust place couldn't change the pipe some way to have good bends. There are a LOT of GTR's with extractors, and I have never seen one with bad bends in the exhaust yet.

I would keep the extractors on.

I remember an article in CVT (I think) many years ago on this. Can't remember engine size, but it was a red 6. The winner was the standard exhaust manifolds, but it required dyno work to figure it out. From memory they were adjusting the point at which th
