Hi All, just wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I am having with my heater in my XF Ute. The heater was not working at all and the radiator was dodgy so I just replaced the radiator and while I was at it put a new thermostat in as well (190 degree F style one) which got the heater working slightly. It now heats up a little, but not warm at all. It is damn cold down here in Melbourne at the moment so I was hoping someone may be able to advise me on how I get the heater to work better?
If I get a thermostat that opens at a lower temperature (ie, 170 instead of 190), would this fix it?

There is also another radiator for the heater. It is possible that this radiator is blocked with crap.
Take the hoses off it where they go through the firewall and flush it out.
I wouldn't be concerned with the thermostat setting. 170 or 190 is ple

Thanks Munromad2004. Where exactly is the heater radiator located in the engine bay and is it easy to remove? If I take it out and clean it should this make it heat up better?

OK, I have figured out that the only way to get to the Heater Radiator is to unscrew all of the heater assembly behind the glovebox. Is there anything I should take note of or do when removing the heater assembly to get to the Heater Radiator and once I h

Hi Lachy,
I am not familiar with the XF so it may be worth your while investing in a workshop manual for it.
Many cars have the heater radiators tucked away behind the dash and this requires quite a lot of dismantling before you can access it.

Thanks again Munromad2004. After fidling around for most of the day I have unfortunately come to the realisation that with the design of the XF, you need to dismantle and remove all of the dash so that you pull the heater unit forward about 2 inches and t

The XF heater core is "in the dash", so to speak. As a result, the dash has to be taken out to access the core. Not a small job. Furthermore, the airconditioner components "in the dash" have to be dismantled to access the heater core. The collection of th

Hello Lachy,
You beat me to it with your posting. I must have been writing my reply when you posted minutes earlier.
Putting a running hose in one heater pipe, will send the water through the core and out the other pipe. Then swap the running hose t
