Car has been sitting for 2 years. Took off the manifold and saw that oil has turned into thick sludge. It is a red v8. Is there a way of cleaning it all out without pulling the motor. Will all the bearings be safe if some sort of cleaner is used and are lifters hard to pull out and clean. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Had the same problem recently. Put engine on a stand, turned it upside down and put a drip tray under it. Got to work with scraper, kero and rags. Did same under rocker covers. Got about 2L of gunk out. Changed sump and oil pump/filter. Put new oil in, wa

Thanks Byron Rich for all the advice. Guess theres no two ways about it. There are other jobs that need to be done with the motor out so I'll get into it.
