Hi has anyone out there used this method of rust removal(Electrolytic Removal of Rust )? I have a set of HQ gts wheels that have been dipped in acid to remove the paint of them and now i have to get the rust off them prior to painting.Using a mechanical method would take ages and would not be easy to remove the rust completly.
Here is a link to a page with info on this rust removal process .Antone tried it or got anyother ideas???????????? http://www.htpaa.org.au/article-electro.php

Howdy,
No, have not tried it but it does sound interesting and worth a go. There are other chemical rust strippers that eat the rust but stop once they reach the uncorroded metal. They work really well. Problem is that they usually require the parts

Quickest is probably sandblasting as the metal is thick enough not to be hurt by high pressure, or the low pressure ones from Repco etc work pretty good and only need 100 lbs. Iwould have thought the acid treatment for paint would have done it tho.
