I've had a couple of postings regarding the HQ Statesman Deville I have inherited from my Grandfather. Thanks to all who have contributed... as I have found out there are more 350 Chevy Statesmans out there than I thought.
Well, I've finally had a chance to pull the old girl out the shed and take a descent look. This car has been shedded for about 8 - 10 years. The body is not too bad for cancer (a little over a wheel arch, and a little along the back window). Paint work is stuffed - crows feet everywhere. Interior isn't too bad, although a little work is required to tidy up.
On taking the car to a mate who is quite good on these older type cars, we have been told that it is going to be quite expensive to get the motor back to its old glory days.
At this stage, we are going to have to send the head off to Adelaide, requires new valves, lifters, etc
What do you all think I should do - sell the old girl as is, or is it worth spending the money on and hope I recoupe my outlay on selling.
Regards Jamie

a one owner unrestored 350 car would be worth restoring due to its rarity , even if sold as is it would be at least worth around $5.000 a mechanic should be able to have it running if its not seized without a rebuild , if it can move under its own power i

The cost to rebuild the car to a good standard wont be recoup in the short term. Its like a brand new house, if you sell a year after its built theres no chance youll get the price it cost you to build, but 5 years later there will be some capital grow Edited by user Tuesday, 5 June 2007 2:38:59 AM(UTC)

You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |

I've just bought a 73 with a 308, the best option if you can afford it is to hang on to it no matter what. the recent boom in prices of aussie muscle is astounding and statesmans will go along for the ride, did you know there were only about 3000 hq stato
