Hi guys.
Ive just scored this torana for a good price and was wondering if someone could dechipher the codes for me. GMH torana seems to be down at the moment.

Its an SLR 253 and the build date is 11/78
The body number on the compliance plate is 549461M and the vin number is 8D69RG-J549461X

The other number is BLXO26172M and the number on the chassis rail is CLX04377(or/)0M. I assume its had the front chassis rail damaged and changed somewhere along the line as it doesnt seem to match anything else. Is this common on Toranas?

Its got a fully flat out 253 in it and I think the number was QR451339. This probably isnt the engine but not sure. If anyone could provide any info itd be much appreciated.

Cheers.

It is a 253 SLR from Melbourne. Yes the chassis has been "repaired" probably due to an accident. The engine is from HQ to HZ, probably late Q early HJ.

Hi hainzy.

Yes, it has obviously had a chassis rail swap or a plate swap. It's a bit difficult to identify plate swaps on LXs because they used 'normal' pop rivets at the factory, so they're easy to replicate.

The other inconsistancy is the Complian

Thanx Warren and Dr terry.
So you think its either had a body swap and thats the correct chassis number or its had a chassis rail change over. The rivets looked to be the right ones to me. You may be right about the date though. I may have written 78 ins
