Interested to know who has a HJ sandman? Reason i ask is i am doing up a list of HJ Sandman Tyre Placard Info.

For those that dont know the tyre placard is located on the inside of the glovebox lid.

The info i gain will be helped used to update the Sandman Owners Club Website! I realise this may be a fair read but your help is apreciated by myself and no doubt The Sandman Owners Club.

Basicaly i have found that later model HJ Sandmans have had a unique tyre placard. Now this is an iteresting find as all i was ever led to believe is that the HJ Sandman utes and panelvans use the same placard as the HQ's.

This seems not to be the case. I have evidence of a few HJ's with the unique placard. The earliest model one i have recorded is 10-75. Previous to today it was a few in 76.

Im not to sure when they updated or even if it was only certin plants that had the updated placard. Or even if the 6cyl version had an updated placard at all as i have only recorded 8cyl vans and utes.

What i require for my records is for each HJ sandman someone has, is a pic of the id plates including the vin plate and also the number off your placard in your glovebox. You can find the placard number in the bottom right corner of the sticker. Starting with 9 and about 7 numbers long and sometimes the letters 'ND' after the number. If you do not have acsess to a camera than please type your plates out and send them as a text.

Your plates and info will not be posted or given out to anyone but myself.

I have collected many many tyre placards and have found some interesting non listed ones but this HJ Sandman Unique Placard is very interesting and i can not find any info about it anywhere!

Once again thankyou, You help is much apreciated!

You can email me here: j_ackland(at)aapt(dot)net(dot)au (replace whats in the brackets)
or simply post here with any questions, comments or sugestions.

Cheers!!
Jason

Is the number you are referring to listed in any generation of the HJ Parts catalogue?

The early HJ book I have doesn't list any placards at all. I think it's the first HJ book - very skinny book with a blue back cover and spine, with pink writing on the spin starting with 'HJ' parts...Front cover and first 5 or so pages and half t

The placard on my HX Sandman van is 9942989, is this the correct number for the Sandman as my mates HX 4 dr Monaro has the same numbered placard? Both appear identical to me.
Thanks for any help.

HX sandman placards:

8 Cyl. Eng. 10 cwt. Ute exc. Air Cond. 9942991
8 Cyl. Eng. 10 cwt. Ute with Air Cond. 9942992
8 Cyl. Eng. 14.5 cwt. Panel Van, Ute 9942827

So no the placard on your sandman is not correct.

The 9942989 placard suits:

HQ and HJ Kingswood Sandmans definitely existed. I've recorded 10 or so of them - many with XX7 on the body plate. Problem is they are buggers to tell apart from normal Kingswoods as some of the Belmont/HOLDEN Sandman telltales are standard or different o

Unfortunately I didn't bother recording HJ tyre placards much at first, so i can't help too much in that regard. I used to note them, but when all the examples I saw simply had HQ placards I didn't bother. The only one I have actually noted in my spreadsh

Byron by the info you have collected it sound like you maybe onto it. as you said there must be some logic in it somewhere.

The 9941015 placard i have not seen on any HJ earlier than 10/75. So that would make sence saying that the HJ never had a low
