G'day, guess what?! Another question from me!
I was in the carby shop the other day (I'm in Darwin)and was asking the dude there about what sort of carb to fit to my 186 to get a bit more out of it. He recommended a holly 320 as I already have extractors. He reckoned that I should be able to get the manifold and carb for around $500. Things in the NT tend to be a lot dearer than everywhere else, does this price sound reasonable. With the tax return comming up, I'm keen to get the new carb. Hopefully the 5-speed conversion too!
Cheers fella's and fellaresses!

stay away from a holley on a 6 cyl red . They just dont work unless you have two forty fours for fuel tanks. Go for a WW two barrell stromberg carby better fuel economy and performance . Hope this helps ?

holleys are good carbs, but if you want power triples are what you want. if you must go holley, go with a 465. Redline make the manifold, figure maybe 500 - 600 for the holley. Triples are alot more. The 350 isn't bad on the red motors, as the red head is

To be brutally honest, and on this you'll get 10 different opinions, I still reckon the origional 186S setup is hard to beat for a balance of power & economy. I know it changed a bit along the way, but the HG setup of cam, valve springs, manifold, carb, c |

Cheers Alex

Cam is very different. Head is also different. AFAIK the rest is the same.

Hi Guys.
To answer boom's query, the air injection holes are only in the carby head on a VK.

From what I have read, but not verified, the EFI head had a lower port floor around the short turn of the intake port. The EFI head also had back cut valves, and sodium filled exhaust valves.
I have an EFI head in bits which I have cleaned up and mildl

That explains it. I had read the difference in the workshop manual years ago, but couldn't find it to check. The drawing in the manual shows the port floor differences.
So, all black head castings are equal. I guess that a standard black head "should

Back to my original question, I've just been offered a 350 manifold for next to nothing so I'm going to go with the 350 holley. A mate has a box of bits that he doesn't need anymore and I've got first dibs!

Well I ran a 179 (bored to 192) with a Quadrajet for a while then a Holley 600 then a Holley 465 then a Mazda rotary 4 barrel then a Holley 350 all with various adapters on the same Cain 4 barrel inlet manifold.
The Quadrajet was reasonable if you |
