hey. I just bought a VK. You know, the usual, 202, carb, 5sp yadda yadda. I find the steering incredibly heavy, it's like lifting weights every time you turn a corner. So my question is obviously, how do i go about fitting power steering?

you need a power steer pump, steerbox, lines, alt/steerbox bracket, new alt belt, front harmonic pulley for power steer, power steer belt and all the bolts to go with it. the best way too do this is to line up 2 cars and take from one and put it on the ot Edited by user Tuesday, 19 June 2007 7:04:43 AM(UTC)

mmm... i don't have the luxury of being able to line up 2 cars, so should i go down to the wreckers and ask for the whole setup? is there a guide on this?

your power steer pump goes passenger side down below the air pump right at the bottom, one line goes from the pump to the ressy the other goes to the rack [the lines should show what line goes where] from the rack it goes ro the pump witch goes to the re |

When I changed my VC Commodore from a 4 to a 6 I had to get a 6 cyl K member. I was asked by a few different wreckers whether I wanted a K member for a power steering or a non power steering car. This leads me to believe that there MIGHT be a difference i |

Hi Jim.
Yes, that is correct about the p/st & non-p/st front K-members, but that was discontinued mid-VH. In a VK (& late VH) the p/st & non-p/st rack are interchangable. In VB, VC & early VH they had a different manual rack (casting number ends in 911 |
