ok so i,ve worked the net to tell me my numbers are 80837gj2.which means my monaro is a genuine gts v8,but how do i tell what v8 it is.any help would be much appreciated.

As you have a HG the engine code is not in the VIN or on the Body plate, however with that model no you wont have a 350.
That leaves a 253 or 308 as the most likely. Both motors will have similar accessories and driveline so you could choose either one |
You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |

If a 308 it will have a salisbury hump above the rear axle, if 253 it will not.

Check also for how the spare wheel is mounted in the boot (held by either a bracket on the chassis rail or by one up above the tail-light) and report back.
JBM, at this stage the location of HK-HG Holden records is a mystery so that won't help.
