Hi everyone,
Just wondering if there is an XY buff out there who can help me with some info.

I have inherited an XY Fairmont 2/71. It runs a 302w & is a column auto. It is totally stock, no mods.
I have been told that it could possibly have rolled off the production line as a GT, but before being sold, was changed to a Fairmont, as it has the black GT leather interior.
Is this possible? Or was the black leather a common Fairmont thing?
It was first a company director's car & then my pop bought it.
Could you order certain trim from the dealers in those days?? Or could this be an unmarked GT with Fairmont badging?

Would love to know how the interior came about. It's a gorgeous car and I plan to restore it to original condition.
Cheers

if it is JG33 then its a GT, fairmont - JG34
Back in those good old days anything was possible. I have a XA that has RPO parts, but it is a fairmont - more probably like someone changed it.

GTs had pretty much the same interior as a Fairmont as GTs were built from Fairmonts, not Falcons. Are you sure it's a leather and not vinyl interior? GTs and fairmonts had vinyl interiors.

Thanks heaps for the info guys.
The plate says JG34, so a definate Fairmont.
As far as the interior goes, it is definately leather. The only vinyl bits are the weave pattern inserts.
Maybe the first owner specifically ordered a leather interior then??

Curious. Leather you say? I'll take your word for it. Factory leather was on the LTDs as an option. I've never seen it on a Falcon. Which company did the director work for? Was it by any chance a Ford dealership? If you get a chance could you take

Not sure what company the first owner was from, but sounds like he had enough cash to splash on this xy.
It's leather alright and still even has that leather squeak when you sit on the seats, just like when you sit on a good leather lounge. Seats are ni
