Hello people.

Seeing as this is my first post here I'd like to say hi, and a big thanks to all you guys, as I've been lurking for a while round these parts gathering various bits of information to keep my beloved HZ pano on the road. So here goes: Hi. Thanks.

Ok. I've been trying to dig up information on how much I'm looking at for an adaptor kit for a Supra 5-speed, plus the gearbox itself, plus whatever else I need to put behind my reasonably tired 308. It originally had the 4 speed box, but a previous owner decided a trimatic was a better idea, maybe he was missing a leg or something, but I'm planning on doing a lot of highway driving and quite like the idea of a 0.83 ratio or whatever it is in 5th with the supra box. Usually I'd shop around, see what ebay is doing, but a workmate is selling a conversion for a Holden 308, with bellhousing, clutch and box out of a '98 Supra for $1600 and I'm trying to figure out if that's a good deal or not. Was wondering if there was anyone out there who has done this reasonably recently who would know? Thoughts would be much appreciated.

Sounds on the high side, but not too much off the mark. For that you'd be wanting to get the gearbox crossmember, tailshaft etc. Make sure it has a 4spd/trimatic pattern bellhousing not a TH pattern. And that the bellhousing also is to suit the same clutc

I've got a couple of quotes for the full kit to change a WB ute from auto to supra 5 speed and the cheapest quote (just for the full kit) was $2100 ranging up to $3000. Quotes were from Dellow and Castlemaine Rod SHop from memory.

But those are with warranty and inc GST and probably a new clutch. As I said $1600 isn't too bad as long as you get most of what you need with it.

Yeah - was the whole lot inc clutch. I'd be happy with $1600. Biggest problem down here (Tas) is getting all the associated bits - the box itslef can be had for $450, but finding bellhousing, clutch, flywheel etc can be a bit difficult

If you want a Supra box, try and get one from a RT142 Corona, it's the same box. It has the same ratios as a W-58 Supra: 3:1 First, .85:1 overdrive, best ratio set of all the Toyota boxes. It has to be from 2.4litre Corona Avanti as the 2litre Coronas ran

try reading down south about my comments on Supra gearboxes..!!
The overdrive ratio's that Rod Hadfield claims are 18% 20% and 22%, however he supposedly can make this higher if needed.

With a 3.55 diff my 253 is pulling 2400 revs at 100km which is

From what I can gather it was a brand new box, never been in a car, he originally sold it to a guy who put it in his SLR and he blew the diff within a week, so he bought it back off him cheap. Seeing as it's got everything including the flywheel, bellhous
