i have a HT GTS with a non original metallic paint. The problem here is that i've been to two paint shops who have tried to match my paint. When i sprayed an area it looks much brighter than the original, as if there is too much metallic flakes. But when i apply a small amount with a small brush it looks similar, but a little darker. I cant figure it out. With all this hassle i may as well paint the car its original colour which is Platinum Metallic.

Was thanked: 5 time(s) in 5 post(s)
Are you spraying clear over it before you check it because clear will darken it a bit

There is another part of spraying metallic paint known as 'flip' It is the ability for metallic flakes to look light one way and dark another. There is also opacity, which is the coverage. The paint can also have a tenancy to become mottley which is patch
