wich gearbox is fitted to most 6 cyl cars M20 or M21 and how many groves on the input shaft for each?

M20 and M22, in aussie 4spd terms. There was an extremely limited amount of M21 boxes available that were homologated for Bathurst XU-1's, in 2 x different ratios, one as per the V8 M21 and the other as per L34 ratios. Note that there were 2 x different |

thank you so m20 m21 is just the code for a 4 speed man gearbox

Yes, plus M22. These codes have referred to Opel, Saginaw and aussie boxes plus Gemini as well. Not all of them eg Opel and Gemini were only M20. M21 and M22 were Saginaw and aussie. Muncie was MC7, Imported VH/VK box was MC6.
