Hey all,
I'm looking to fit my battery in the boot of my HD so as to clean up the engine bay a bit, can someone shed some light on the pro's and cons associated with this mod, and whats the best way to do it.

Long battery leads mean more voltage drop when you're cranking the engine. You will need to use heavy cable, say 70mm2 welding flex. You should also extend the main positive wire from the ignition switch back to the battery + terminal instead of to the so

These batteries are smaller for larger size, and are a dry battery. There will be comments regarding them, but you decide if they suit you.

Most battery in boot kits contain some form of vent tube to take the hydrogen from a regarging battery out of the boot space. If you run an amp or such, then having the battery in the boot gives a good power feed to that. It also makes it a bit easier t

Thanks for the input, my charging wire from the altinator runs directly to my battery, is this standard and if so do I just run that all the way to the boot or is there another way of doing it.

Yes it is standard (ish). The solution is to connect it to wherever you terminate the +ve battery feed in the engine bay (starter or its solenoid).

I always run an earth cable back to the engine as well to ensure a good earth for the starter, rather than earthing it through the body from the boot.
If you buy an isolation switch, (which is a good idea) beware of some of the cheaper ones as that can't

Hey Ed Glenn's hornet battery is in the boot, he wouldnt mind if you sused it out.
He had early problems but its sorted now.
