Hi on my hq when you start it the temp lights comes on bright when cranking, but stays on dimly when the car is running.Why,do I have the wrong bulb or what.Thanks in advance.Mike.

early indercation of the alternator giving way
have it run at idle remove the power or negative
lead from the battery see if it stalls if so alt
if not cant help but thats been the most problem area for
me in my years working on these things good |

um its my understanding that removing the leads while the engine is running is a fast way to wreck the diodes in the alternator also I dont see how the temp light would affect the alternator, charge light yes .
are you sure it is the temp light?

CHeck the connection @ temperature sender unit on the head, around #5 cylinder on drivers side.
crimp it down tighter.

Yes definately the temp light.Should add its has a turbo style 308 fitted to it now.Could the sender be wrong.Bought the car in pieces and just getting it running.Thanks.

Hi Guys.
It's as simple as this.
Disconnect your temp sender wire while the motor is running. If your dim light goes out completely, then you have a faulty switch or more likely you have a sender to suit a guage, not a light. Either way, fit a new ( |

Thanks Terry,the light does go out if I remove the wire and I have bought a new sender but it is the same.Will make sure I got the right item.Cheers.

Hi klompy.
You need a temperature switch, not a temperature gauge sender. It must suit a light not a gauge.
