VT prefix were used on all 308s from VB-VK.

There are a number of ways:
1. Original owners manual with the numbers filled out.
2. The casting date on the block:

Maybe this should be a sticky, are there stickys on this forum?

Maybe with links to a engine prefix page as well as the above explanation on how to read the cast date marks and where they are on each motor.

Engine number is too late - they cracked 100,000 very close to the VB/VC changeover.

I had VT11411x in a 3/80 VC, and a mate's 8/80 VC Brock has VT144xxx

A VB that young will have a 5 digit (plus 2 letter) engine number.

Cheers,

Mick
